Cost to Caulk Exterior of Home for Energy Efficiency

All joints between dissimilar materials on the exterior of a home need caulk. Since the biggest enemy to your home’s structure is water, “A stitch in time saves nine…” has never been more appropriate.

At least once a year the caulking should be checked and if one area is showing cracking then you should check the entire house.

Re-caulking isn’t difficult but it can be time consuming. Always be sure that your handyman is using the best quality 50 year caulk available.

Low estimate for materials and labor for a 2000
square foot, two story home:

  • Exterior caulk
  • Labor 3 hours

High estimate for materials and labor for a 2000
square foot, two story home:

  • Exterior caulk
  • Labor 5 hours

If you are a contractor or a handyman, how much would this job cost in your area?

Low Price: $225

Consensus Price: $225

High Price: $275

  1. We just did 150 liner ft. of concrete and used almost three hundred dollars of backer rod and caulk, it took ten hrs. For prep and caulking.

  2. What would a fair price be to caulk the interior of a 2600 sf single story house and paint the baseboards of the house?

    1. It’s impossible to estimate the cost for the caulking and baseboard without having some idea of the linear footage involved.

  3. To caulk and paint the exterior of a cement lap board house that’s each wall is 25 x8 with 8 foot peaks on two sides ,,,,, also do I caulk under each of each clapboard …. Thank you

  4. How much would it cost to caulk 26 standard size windows – 1 sliding door and 1 main door. The linear footage will be roughly 280 and this is a 2 storey – single family home in Charlotte, NC area. Any estimates will be greatly appreciated!
